About
I’m from Moscow, living in Montenegro, moved here with my small family at the beginning of 2022. I don’t complain about life, living modestly, but have a job for now.
I am constantly haunted by thoughts of why things turned out this way. Did we have a choice? Can we change something, and how? This will be the focus of my blog.
It will be available in four languages - Russian, English, Ukrainian, and Serbian. I listed the languages in descending order of my proficiency, so there might be some mistakes.
The slogan “how we ended up with such a life” was borrowed from Igor Alexandrovich Yakovenko because it perfectly expresses the idea that has been stuck in my mind since 2014 and refuses to leave. I hope Igor Alexandrovich won’t mind me using it.
First and foremost, I believe:
- The war in Ukraine must be stopped, and the borders restored to their 1991 state.
- Political prisoners must be released.
- Russia should pay full compensation to Ukraine for the damages, deaths, and health issues caused.
- Putin should be held accountable, and the FSB should be dismantled.
- The constitution should be rewritten for federal governance and decentralization.
- Chechnya, Tatarstan, and any other republics should have the right to secede from Russia if they wish to do so.
- All state monopolies on media, land, enterprises, and resources should be abolished.
- Permanently functioning, decentralized, and independent organizations should be created to monitor corruption, propaganda, and human rights violations, with the power of impeaching the government.
- Illegally acquired wealth should be frozen and returned to Russia. All individuals guilty of military and financial crimes should be prosecuted according to the law.
- An overarching supervisory organization should be established to ensure Russia’s compliance with the plan for democratization and the establishment of civil society.
I don’t translate notes into all languages; I write them in a single language. That’s why there’s a mixture of different languages. There’s no special reason for this; it’s just more convenient for me to write this way. Typically, when I choose a language, it’s because the original motive that inspired me to write was in that language. I hope this won’t be inconvenient for readers - feel free to use the language switcher in my website’s menu and read only what you feel most comfortable with.
That’s all. Read my blog and help me find answers and solutions.
